Upsets Galore

This World Cup has included some of the biggest upsets in the history of the tournament. Teams such as Germany, Argentina and Belgium have all been beaten so far. These games were supposed to all be easily predicted on paper. Germany should’ve beaten Japan, Argentina were unbeaten for 36 matches before their game and Belgium were ranked number 2 in the FIFA rankings. This goes to show how unpredictable this World Cup has been and definitely has scrambled a lot of people’s bets and ideas of who will win.

Still a chance

Although those three teams lost a game in their group stage, they still all have a good chance to make it to the knockouts. Belgium are out for now but depending how their last game goes they could potentially crawl out from third place. Argentina were able to beat Mexico which put them in second place in their group stage while Germany is in desperate need of a win in their next game. These three teams are not the only ones struggling but it is overall surprising to see them not win both of their games so far.

Dark Horses

Knowing that anything can happen I think it’s fair to say that this tournament is up for grabs for any country. Morocco and Ghana are two dark horses this World Cup as they both looked very solid in their last games and have a chance at making it to the knockouts. Japan, Switzerland and Ecuador are also all looking good and could potentially cause trouble later on in the knockout rounds.

It’s up for grabs

A tournament like the World Cup is very special. Players are able to represent their nations and make them proud by playing with other world class talents from around the world. This makes it possible for smaller players who haven’t made a name for themselves to become known. This is why we see so many upsets. It doesn’t matter if you have the best and most popular talents in the world, if you don’t have passion then you won’t be able to win. This is why it’s so difficult on who to pick for the winner of this tournament. For me however, I believe Brazil or Spain are taking home the trophy. They both have depth and look very solid defensively and offensively. As I said though this is just a guess, who knows what could go down for the rest of this World Cup!
